The American double bassist, composer and orchestra leader Charles Mingus was one of the leading jazz artists of the 1950s and 1960s. His music still inspires a lot of artists, also outside the jazz world. To celebrate the life and music of this legendary artist, the Metropole Orkest will play Mingus’ favorites such as Better Get It In Your Soul, Moanin’ and Goodbye Pork Pie Hat. In addition to the entire orchestra, Pablo Martinez (trombone), Angelo Verploegen (trumpet), Joris Roelofs (bass clarinet) and Ntjam Rosie (vocals) blow new life into the timeless pieces of Mingus.
